• Energy flows and considered to save energy and make spaces more comfortable. Unwanted sights and sounds are minimized while positive energies are highlighted.
• Considering the succession of the landscape ensures that they remain healthy through the years, either by allowing them to mature, or realizing they should be maintained in earlier stages. 
• Resources are recycled in the landscape to save money, time, and energy.
• Biodiversity is enhanced to increase productivity, reduce insect and disease pressure, and promote wildlife habitat.
• Natural patterns are utilized to make landscapes more efficient and productive.
