Recently the AWEA put together a guidebook called "In the Public Interest: How and Why to Permit for Small Wind Systems", designed to help state and local governments create or improve local permitting rules that govern the installation of small wind turbines.

Absent or unnecessarily restrictive zoning and permitting rules continue to pose a tremendous challenge to the small wind industry. This guidebook is intended to help dealers, installers, and appropriate state and local policymakers, and small wind power customers more efficiently navigate the permitting process.
